Become a Certified IAABO Official

Thank you for your interest in officiating basketball with IAABO Board #11. We referee High School, Middle School, CYM, and men’s and women’s recreation leagues in New Castle County, Delaware and Cecil County, Maryland.

We offer many opportunities to officiate, and after becoming certified with us, you will have the opportunity to officiate just about as much as you would like. We have officials who officiate from 2 to 20 games a week, depending on availability and experience. While we are predominantly a high school officials board, some of our officials now also officiate college basketball.

To become IAABO certified, prospective candidates must score 86% or more on a written test prepared by our parent organization (The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials), and pass a floor mechanics test administered by our Board. We offer classes to help prospects learn rules, procedures, floor mechanics, and practice for the test. We have completed our rules classes for this season, but would be happy to put you on the list for next year.

If you would, please forward your home address and phone number or email address to me, laynedrexel@aol.com and I will forward the necessary information to you.

Thank you for your interest in learning more about the art of officiating. I look forward to meeting you. If you haven’t yet, please check out our website - www.board11.org

Sincerely,

Layne Drexel
